Is there a way to bulk import automation rules using a .csv?

Jared Hebb February 21, 2022

So I'm looking to setup some rule automation to auto populate task specific descriptions (expected results, actual results, repro steps).  Ideally we'd like to get pretty granular and it makes sense to lay everything out in a spread sheet and upload to Jira.

Any suggestions

Short answer is no, you cannot bulk import automation rules.  But you can always add it as a suggestion, https://jira.atlassian.com/secure/Dashboard.jspa?selectPageId=10440

Well that's not great, but I went ahead and suggested that as a feature like you suggested.  Thanks for the assist Mikael!

@Jared Hebb

There is no import functionality but it has export functionality in JSON Format.

Which you can maintain as a backup and refer to configure back in another instance.

Also you can take screenshot of it for backup

It also has copy option in the same instance if you have same automation requirement with small changes.

Hope it helps

Hi all,

While CSV is not supported, Global Admins have access to import automation rules in JSON format - you can read more about this here:

Cheers,
