My fiancee and I just use JIRA to manage tasks around the house. Renovations, chores, wedding planning. Just two users. What system requirements would you recommend for this if I'm just spinning up a VM on an ESXi host I have in my garage? Would 1 GB RAM suffice, or does it still need 1 GB minimum Java heap for even 2 users?
Looked at Atlassian's documentation, and the smallest JIRA installation they have metrics for is 100 users.
A 1Gb heap will be more than enough for 2 users. I wouldn't go down to 500Mb, but 768 is a popular number for Jira installs known not to be getting large or used heavily.
Also, keep some free space for the host OS, and if you are planning on hosting the database on the same host for that as well.
