Hi Team,
We are working on Jira upgrade. For this we have created a replica of production environment which is test environment. We need to update the license key on test environment. We can get the trail version of license from the portal using by providing SERVER ID but the SERVER ID for both test and prod environment is same.
Does it will raise any conflict on production environment if we will use the same Server ID on both the environment and get the license for test environment?
You could have used the developer license I guess that comes with your purchased license.
No it does not but at the same time it is not recommended. (There is one known error which I don’t know offhand).
You can update the test server id as explained here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/change-the-server-id-for-an-instance-of-jira-server-285839562.html
You can delete the server you used to grab the new id once you are done.

Hi Jimoh,
We are going ahead with using same Server ID on the test server as we will retire the production server after upgrade is complete on the test server. Will it create any big conflict after upgrade? Please clarify more on this.

No it should not.
The main problem with duplicate Server ID comes when you are attempting to use Application Links. Since this is performed by also referencing the Server ID, then the servers may think they are talking to themselves and fail to link.
Cheers.

Hi Jimoh,
Will you please provide me the example application links?

Please read about application links here(Confluence).
You will need to be sure you have one configured and it is not something I can provide as it is something configured by the Admin of your instance.
Cheers.
