Hi,
Can we choose to install only Jira SD and Jira software on a server instance ? Is it possible to avoid Jira Core installation ?
If yes, which is the installation kit available for the above ?
Thank you
Dan
Jira SD and Jira Software are plugins that run in Jira Core, under the covers. So no.
Thanks Matt ! Then when need to dimension a Jira SD for more than 250 agents since the Software product should support 1000 users (agents).
What the point then with Jira Core ? Is it the price for it depending of 1000 agents license volume for software ? Is it packed with any add-on price ? (have to add JCore 1000 price to JSoftware 1000 price ?!)
Then, if we activate SSO integration (add-on) then JCore internal directory switch only to read only mode (add-on control) and Jira customers stored locally cannot change their password... is any solution to keep that option active (passwd reset via noSSO auth) ?

Jira Service Desk layers portals, requests and SLAs over issues, projects, workflows and fields. Those things are only provided by Jira Core.
In some ways, Atlassian encourage you to think of the Jira "family" as nine different applications (Cloud/Server/DC * Core/JSD/Software), but it's not quite right. Jira Core acts as a "platform" for JSD and Jira Software. So it has to be part of any installation of the other two.
The licencing is by separate application though. If you install Core + JSD, you don't need any core licences if all your users are going to be customers or Agents. Customers don't need a licence at all, and the Agents licence automatically includes Core for them.
If you took that model and then added Software to it, you would need to licence the Software users as well (and again, Software users get Core licences automatically). And you could add Core users too, if you had users who needed access to projects, but not boards or the Service Desk.
The numbers do not need to match - it's common to see setups with 250 Software users, 100 Core and 5 Agents for example (that's the one I'm looking at right now).

Thanks Nic,
So then a 250+ SD (unlimited agents and SD users) + 500 JSoftware users will have the following benefits?
- all 250+ (virtually 2000 let's say) sd agents can access as well JSoftware projects but
- only 500 of them may have access to JS Kanban ?

Yes, that's true.
