Significance of Project lead and Component Lead roles?

What is the significance of Project Lead and Component Lead roles in Jira? What is the difference between Project Lead and Project admin role? What is the difference between Component Lead and Component default assignee role?, In Jira most of the activities we do with the project admin & component default assignee role, then what is the neccessity of project lead and component lead roles??

Project lead and component lead are simply fields you can fill in to provide a point of contact for that project or component within a project.

The difference between project lead and project admin is that the person who administers the project may not actually be the lead on that project, but simply the person who knows Jira well enough to administer it for the team.

You can set the component lead to be the default assignee for that component if you wish, or you could choose someone different, it's really up to you, you can even choose to not have a component lead or a default assignee for a component.

Again these fields are there purely to add some extra information or a point of contact for a project or component. They are not needed if you don't have a need for them, they are there as an option for users that do wish to use them.

A project lead is the person running or owning the project.  A component lead is the person responsible for part of the project defined by the component.  The default assignee does what it suggests - makes those people the default assignee according to your settings.

You don't have to use them at all, they're just functions a lot of us find useful.
