Hello, I have automation to sum the story points of children to epics, this has been working fins so far, but now we have epics with more that 100 children and the lookup no longer catches all of them. Has anyone solved for this yet? either using automation or I could use Scriptrunner as well if I need to.
thanks,
-wade
Hi @Wade H
If you are open for a mktplace solution, we have built an app for the same use case.
Through this app you can visualize your Epics with multiple child issues. Do Try it out.

Hi @Wade H,
I am Marlene, product manager of Quick Filters for Jira Dashboards.
Another option to sum-up story points under epics would be our Marketplace app mentioned above.
You can sum-up story points and any other number fields with the following gadgets:
You can check out our app without installation on our demo dashboards.

Hi @Wade H
there's actually a number of apps from the Atlassian Marketplace that can help with that, not being subject to any (practical) issue limit. I myself happen to work on an app in which your use case would be trivial to solve: JXL for Jira.
JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a number of advanced features, including support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, issue grouping by any issue field(s), and sum-ups. With these, creating a view like this can be done in just a few clicks:
This works across any hierarchy and/or grouping of issues, with configurable sum-up styles. As you can see above, you can also work on your issues directly in JXL, trigger various operations in Jira, or export your issues with just one click.
As said above, there'll be other apps that can help with this, too. You may already know that you can trial any app for free for 1 month, and depending on the size of your size, it may be free forever. So if an app is an option for your, perhaps try a few and see which works best for you.
Any questions just let me know,
Best,
Hannes

Hi @wad ,
Do you need the values at the Epic Level for filtering or sorting?
Are you on Cloud or DC?

Hello @Andreas Haaken _APTIS_
I am on cloud, what i need to get is the sum of all story points for any issue that is a child of an epic, I can do this fine in automation, however now we have more than 100 issues on an epic and the lookup only gets 100

Hi @Andreas Haaken _APTIS_
That does look nice.
Is that the Epic Sum Up app in the marketplace? I would like to be able to do this without purchasing an app.
thanks,

yes, it is.. the cloud is very limited when it comes to such requirements.
that is why we developed this app.
of course it does a lot more that could be helpful. without any App it could be difficult to achieve.
the are too many limitations.
