Two questions on upgrading to Jira 7.13.5

Scott Forbes July 17, 2019

Our server is running RHEL 6.10 and MySQL 5.6.42 (Community Edition) and I have been requested to upgrade to Jira 7.13.5 to resolve security issue. The installed version of Java is 1.8.0_181.

Questions:

Is it possible to upgrade to Jira 7.13.5 (to resolve security issue) in 1 step or do I need to go to 7.13.1 first?

Will an upgrade of MySQL be needed to go to Jira 7.13.5? If so, what are the supported versions?

Hi @Scott Forbes ,

what is you current version of Jira ? if you're already on version 7, then you can directly upgrade to 7.13.5 and won't need to upgrade MySQL or Java.

If you have an earlier version than Jira 7, then it will depend on how old your version is.

v7.12.3 is currently installed. I downloaded the 7.13.5 "obr" upgrade file but not sure how to process that. Or if I should run through the full installer as I've previously done.

The obr files are meant to be used when you have already installed Jira base system, it won't be useful for you.

You should download Jira Software 7.13.5 from Atlassian website here and then go through the upgrade process (documentation here).

Let me know if this helps,

Thank you. I will proceed as I've done previously running through the full installer and opting to upgrade an existing installation.
