Unable to delete some JIRA screens

Hi everybody,

I want to delete all unused screens of my JIRA-instance. Although they are not assigned to any screen scheme and they are not used as a transition screen, there are some screens without a delete button.

Curiously, there is a strange bullet point without any connection to a scheme in the connected screen scheme column in the respective screen row (see screenshot below).

Bug_JIRA.PNG

Moreover, I´ve queried all unused screens from the database (screens without screen schemes minus all screens, which are used in jira.fieldscreen in the descriptor xml of the workflows). The result contains the respective indelible screens. Thus, they actually should be deletable.

I´ve already deleted unused screen schemes, workflows, etc. without any problems.

Has anybody an idea what may be the problem and how to fix it?

Thank you in advance for your support.

Best regards

Dennis

Hi @Grigory Salnikov,

thanks for your reply.

I´ve already seen this discussion. I thought that the unlinked bullet point maybe give some indication of the source of the problem. But probably the most appropriate way to fix the problem is actually to create a JIRA Support Ticket.

I see.

I suppose a Jira Support Ticket is a good option then.

Good luck!

Hi @Dennis S_,

if this screen is not in use in any workflow or assigned to any used or unused screen scheme, look into the health check or try to reindex maybe.

Is there any log error message?

Hi @Francesc_Arbó,

thanks for your reply.

The screen is definitely not assigned to any used or unused screen scheme or any transition.

The health checks are okay and there are too many enormous log files to analyse them. Re-Indexing should be automatically performed, so re-indexing probably doesn´t fix the problem.

All in all, I´ve found more than 200 unused screens (not assigned to any screen scheme and not used as a transition screen). Approximately 50 of them are not deletable.

Hi @Dennis S_,

It's a bit strange but you can try to follow this Atlassian KB article. If it works fine, please, explain what happened: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/no-delete-option-on-screens-432801027.html?_ga=2.221361176.189573661.1535439702-1125479650.1525245948

Hi @Francesc_Arbó,

thanks for the article. Looks like an appropriate solution. Unfortunately, I only have reading permissions for the database, so I can´t try the recommended steps at all. Nonetheless, I will inform you about the solution as soon as the problem is resolved by the JIRA support.

Best regards

Dennis
