Appears to be asking you to step upgrade from 2.5.9 to 3.0 and move up from there.

What version of Jira & Service desk is listed now in administration under applications?

Guido Sicoli October 25, 2017

RA Service Desk  3.8.2

JIRA Software 7.5.1

JIRA Core 7.5.1

I have the same problem. Can we just do the incremental service desk installs or do we have to downgrade jira?

There is no such thing as "downgrade Jira"

For each upgrade step of your Jira, install/upgrade all the add-ons and applications in step with the Jira upgrade.
