Will JQL still work if I disable (archive) certain options from a dropdown custom field?

Hello,

We are currently using a dropdown field to keep track of which planning cycle each ticket is part of. Initially, we started with PI1, but now we are almost at PI20. Therefore, the custom field for PI now has 20 options to choose from, ranging from PI1 to PI20. However, this has resulted in a long list of options for our end users to select from.

There are still some older projects that report on older PIs, and they use JQLs to build dashboards on older PIs (i.e. PI1 to PI10).

We would like to archive values from PI1 to P110 from the PI dropdown field without affecting the existing JQLs and dashboards. Is this possible?

Thanks in advance,

Susheela

Hi @Susheela_Kushwaha

It is possible to disable an option in a Select list custom field. It will NOT affect the existing Jira issue filter, and users can still search for the disabled option on the Jira issue navigator.

Thank you.
