updating a custom field with a new behaviour

dear all

I have this use case where I created a custom field for one of my product where I have listed the "customer" like

  • Customer A
  • Customer B
  • Customer C
  • Customer D who has left the product

Today, Customer D is no more on this product and I would like to:

  1. leave this value to keep the integrity of the isseus in the past in case of necessity
  2. obtain Customer D is not more selectable by mistake by any user.

Any idea?

regards

Hi @Fabio Paglianti

you should disable the option in the custom field context of the custom field.

settings > custom fields > search for your field > ... menu "Context"

This will disallow further selection of the value but will leave it selected in present issues.

Hope this helps

Hi Fabio,

If the Customer D option is part of the Jira custom field drop-down menu (multi-select option) there is no way to stop your team from selecting Customer D moving forward even though they are no longer part of the product or stopped using the product.

I am afraid you would have to ask your team to make sure they are selecting the right choice moving forward to avoid errors.
