Remove Server Version number from Footer

Jacob Gude September 9, 2019

Hello,

Is there a reason why Atlassian decided to add the server version number to the footer of its applications? Is there an easy way to remove the version number from Jira/Confluence/Service desk, without having to edit a bunch of files and have to re-edit them every time the software is updated?

Thank you,

Jacob Gude

From my understanding, editing the source files for the footer in Jira/Confluence or using the Custom HTML option in Confluence is the only way to remove the version number, and none of that moves to a new update. Usually keeping the version number in a conspicuous place is to help support requests by making it less difficult to find version information, especially if someone isn't an admin. There is a way to resize the footer (at least for Confluence, I've never tried it for Jira), that might make it less intrusive.

Edit the footer info: https://confluence.atlassian.com/confkb/how-to-edit-the-footer-in-confluence-163415355.html

Reduce footer height info: https://confluence.atlassian.com/confkb/how-to-reduce-the-confluence-footer-height-795936067.html
