Security Level and issue access in case of multi issue types

Mohamed El Taweel March 29, 2018

Hi,

HR-Project have 4 issue types “Workers Issue Type”, Emp Issue Type” and “Management Issue Type”

Have 4 groups ADMIN-GROUP   , Workers-Group, Emp-Group and Management-Group

Emp-Group can only create issues for issue type  Emp Issue Type”

Created a security level “Security Level1”

Management-Group  is assigned to “Security Level1”

On  issue creation on all workflows of all issue types, I set security level to “Security Level1”

Q1- Management-Group will be able to see all issues of all issue types, am I right?

Q2- Will Group Emp-Group be able to view the issues they created ?

Can I revoke every group to access only their issues ?

Thanks

Hi Mohamed,

As per your questions:

Q1: Management-Group will be able to see all issues of all issue types, am I right?

Since you set Security Level1 to all issue types and assign Management-Group to Security Level1, then this group should be able to see all these issues.

Q2: Will Group Emp-Group be able to view the issues they created ?

If Security Level is set to "Security Level1" by default and if Emp-group isn't assigned to "Security Level1", Emp-Group should have Issue Security set to None by default and they will be able only to see issues with Issue Security different than "Security Level1" (including issues they created).

As per your question:

Can I revoke every group to access only their issues?

You can restrict users to see only their own issues as described by the following KB article:
https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/how-to-limit-user-to-only-browse-issues-assigned-to-or-reported-by-them-779160753.html

I hopes this answer your questions.

Cheers,
Marko Filipan
