Set comment and notification visibility, on a per-reporter or per-issue basis

Ben Arons April 18, 2012

I'm looking for a way to prevent the reporter of an issue from receiving some comments, but not others. Ideally it would be controlled by the assignee (or other members of their team) on a comment by comment basis.

Is this even possible with script?

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Yes, each comment you can set the visibilty as explained here http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Commenting+on+an+Issue

Thanks Renjith, but there's a wrinkle: The comment visiblity needs to be restricted to a group who's contents depends on the reporter of the issue. It will change. The static system groups we can setup will not suffice.
