I am creating a rule using the Jira automation feature and I am trying to create a variable that takes the value the user inputs from the Work Percent Complete field on a subtask. However I can not find a smart value for the Work Percent Complete like the smart values for time logged. I also do not have the permissions to create a custom field. Does anyone know how I can access that number?

Hi @Kayleen Speller -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

For a question like this, context is important for the community to help.  Please post the following:

  • what version of Jira are you using: Cloud, Server, or Data Center
  • for Cloud, what type of project is this: company-managed, team-managed, JPD, etc.
  • an image of your complete automation rule in a single image for continuity
  • images of any relevant actions / conditions / branches
  • an image of the audit log details showing the rule execution
  • explain what is not working as expected and why you believe that to be the case

Until we see those...

What do you mean by the "Work Percent Complete"?  Perhaps post an image of what you are seeing for that value.

If you mean the percentage shown for a parent issue and its subtasks, that is calculated for display purposes dynamically and not stored.  And automation rule could recalculate it, as needed.

Kind regards,
Bill
