Status change of parent issue status based on child issue status

Hi Team, 

I need help in automating the status change of parent issue based on the status change of child issue.

Scenario: I have an issue type as “X” with statuses ( New-> In Progress-> Done) and linked to Parent issue type “Y” with statuses (New-> In Progress-> Done). If i move X’s status from New to In progress, then automatically Y’s status should move from New to In progress.

can this be achieved with Automation 

Kindly help with a resolution

I don't have the exact configuration for you but it can be done. What you need to look into is the automation feature called branching which handles related tickets like sub-task, parents ticket, etc.
