User is unable to Share Dashboards and Filters despite being in administrators Group

Nathan Watterson October 17, 2018

Background:

As Admin,

Site administration > Application Settings > Jira

Then

Jira Software > Security > Global Permissions

Under Jira Permission > Share dashboards and filters

I can see the Groups assigned this permission:

When I click administrators > View Users Link I am taken to the Groups > Administrators screen and I can see a list of group members who are in the administrators group.

Problem Statement:

There are 2 Users in this group.

  • User1 can share dashboards and filters,
  • User2 cannot share dashboards or filters.

Why is User2 unable to share dashboards or filters?

Turned out to be a client side browser extension. AdBlock for Chrome.
I've added an exception for anything *.atlassian.com and *.atlassian.net

Hi, Nathan.

According to the official documentation - Managing shared dashboards for JIRA Cloud:

A dashboard is a customizable page that can display many different types of information, depending on your areas of interest. Jira users can create and manage their own dashboards.

What it means is that the action of sharing the dashboard is to be handled only be the owner of Dashboard itself.

In this case, may I know if User2 was unable to edit and share the Dashboard and filters that he / she owns?

@AhmadDanial Thanks for the reply.

User 2 is able to Create a dashboard.
User 2 is unable to share this newly created dashboard, during creation or after.

Hi there, Nathan.

Thank you for the confirmation. Since this seems to be a user side issue, I would like the affected user to perform the following steps:

  • Disable browser extensions
  • Use incognito mode
  • Reproduce the issue on other web browsers

Since user has already the required global permission and he / she is actually trying to share his own dashboard, let us look at these points before we dig deeper into this case. Thanks.
