When grouped by Epics in swimlanes, can a single story be ranked higher than an epic?

I have a Kanban board with multiple epics and multiple stories not associated with epics.  How can I showcase on the board that one or two of those single stories may be ranked higher than an epic when the board has the swimlanes grouped by epic?  Right now it just puts all the single stories at the bottom under the Epics

No, it is default sorting method for epic swimlanes - "Epics" at the top, "Issues without epics" at the bottom.

It cannot be changed at the moment. You can try to create a suggestion and maybe Atlassian implement it sometime.
