Can any one share me some docs which help for Importing an external jira instance to our internal jira?

Note: Both the jira instances are different from each other in every aspect (versions, fields, notations, workflows, Issue types, projects etc).

Hi, yesterday somebody asked almost the same thing. I'm running out of time so I'll pass the URL:

There's no easy way to do this.

If you have an XML export of the source Jira, then you have some options - an import will pull everything into the target Jira, but will kill all the existing data in the target. It doesn't sound like you want that though. From that XML, you can import individual projects, but you'll need to make sure all the custom fields, versions, workflows, issue types and so-on are the same, as the project import needs the structure to be the same.

How can the custom fields, versions etc be similar? Different companies follow different formats and different structures and so they can't be similar. So in this case Migrations are not possible?

Can you share some doucmentation related to that if any?
