Hi,

I've not used the plugin personally - but Jira (cloud at least) offers this for the IT service management side as a "built-in" recommended automation rule. So, as an issue is raised, it has JQL that auto assigns on balanced workload which sounds like what you're after?

You can either use the built-in as is, or add conditions for various/specific projects. You may find this is something you can use?

Hi!

That's correct, Automation for Jira does provide the ability to assign using a balanced workload.  Automation for Jira is built-in for Jira Cloud, and a plugin in Jira Server ( however, still maintained by Atlassian).

The functionality is not in built in JIRA and cannot be achieved without plugins. For cloud, there is an open feature request https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSDCLOUD-4994 . Please vote there.

If you are ok to do this with plugins, please check out the question https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Software-questions/automatic-issue-assign-by-workload/qaq-p/760135
