ScriptRunner to link issues that are open

Every month I have an automation that creates a new issue for a task for a team in our org. As part of that automation I need it to look at the previously created task and link the issues link to the previous task that are still open to the newly created task as a carry over. 

For example:

ISSUE-KEY: October Task

• Linked-Issue-1: Closed
• Linked-Issue-2: Closed
• Linked-Issue-3: Open

ISSUE-KEY: November Task

• Linked-Issue-3: Open

When the November task is created it need to reference the October task, and grab that third issue that is not closed and link it to the newly created task. 

Any ideas?
