Server ID wrong format

Ron August 19, 2020

I looked up my server ID so I can convert our trial (which expires in 2 days) to the licenses we have bought.

It has the wrong format, d75aaa66-c9d6-481f-97d2-ce9bc3b58ef9
Could just copy the Server IDs from the trial licenses, but don't know if that is the right path.

I also notice that only Jira Core and Jira Software have the same server id, the others (Confluence, helpdesk) have different IDs although on the same machine.

Please advice!

Hello @Ron

Thank you for reaching out.

Can you please confirm if you've migrated your environment from Jira Cloud recently?

I ask this question because the incorrect format displayed in your Server ID seems to be an old Jira Cloud site identifier that uses 32 hexadecimal characters (0-9 a-f) to identify the instance.

If my assumption is correct, I believe you must be facing the bug below:

Server ID uses the wrong format and is invalid after migrating Jira from Cloud to Server

In that case, you can follow the steps of the documentation below to properly update the Server ID in your Server instance:

Change the server ID for an instance of Jira server

Additionally, feel free to vote and watch the bug to increase its priority and also receive notifications about its fix implementation.

About the license difference between a product and another, Jira Core and Software are becoming a single product in Cloud, that's why the same "Server ID" is being used in both applications.

Please, let us know if you have any questions about the steps of the documentation above.
