Show linked issues based on custom field

Mitch Wiemans December 17, 2018

Hello,

I have 2 questions regarding linking issues / showing fields based on Custom fields input.

1. We have a custom field named: ID.

This ID can be 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 etc. etc.

Lets say that a issue has been created and the custom field value is 30.

Now another issue is created with that same ID and is causing the other issue. Then we want to link this issue. But we only want to be able to link it / see the link options for other issues that have the same ID (30). Is this possible?

2. We have a custom field ID.

This ID can be 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 etc. etc.

Then we have a Secondary ID (ID2), and this can be 11,12, 21, 22, 31, 31 etc.

When creating a issue we have to define these 2 ID's. The first ID is simple because we have this in a option box.

For the 2nd ID we would also like to have a checkbox based on the first ID.

So if ID1 = 10, we want the option 11 and 12 to be available for ID2 instead of them all.

See image attached for more information.

SiteID = ID1 and DetectorID = ID2

Can this be done in the create screen or do we need add-ons?

We are using the following add-ons:

  • Exocet
  • Jira Misc Workflow Extension
  • Checklist

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Mitch

Dear Mitch, hi!

Try to use cascade type of custom field for this case.

Best regards,

Vasiliy.

Hi Vasilliy!

Thank you very much for this answer. I don't know how I missed this option! i guess I was to busy with the available options or something like that.

Do you maybe have some more information regarding my question NR. 1?

2 was the most important and 1 is a nice to have.

Best regards,

Mitch

Hi Mitch,

Regarding question 1: when you shoos an issue to link there is an option to use JQL. Try to use this one.

Mitch Wiemans December 17, 2018

Hi Vasilliy,

Is this also posible with the Exocest Add-on? Becuase there we can define JQL to only look for certain properties etc. However as far as I can see, they can only create and link issues.

While using the method you suggested, we always need to write the JQL ourselfs instead of making it once if i''m correct.
