Start time tracking only once the assignee has accepted the work in the assigned issue

Sidhant Sharma January 23, 2022

Hi All,

Is there a way in which the assignees can be asked to approve/accept the work assigned in the ticket? Can we start the time tracking of the issue only once the assignee has accepted the work?

What I am trying to achieve is to track the idle time (before acceptance/approval) and the actual time (post acceptance/approval) that is being spent on the ticket.

Any help to fulfil the above use case will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Regards!

Hello, Sidhant

I think requiring the assignee to change the status (e.g. to In Progress) is a fairly standard practice to indicate "acceptance". In this case one of the numerous "time in status" apps will give you the answer for the idle time.

As for the actual time, being accepted really doesn't mean "being worked on".

We are addressing this in our app EasyTime for Jira by tracking time automatically while the user is working e.g. viewing, commenting, transitioning while addressing tracking time away from the issue with smart silent and noisy merge features.

Specifically for developers (who love to look at an issue and then go into their corner for 8h) we also have published companion apps – EasyTime for Confluence and EasyTime for Bitbucket, as well as several other integrations (IDE, Slack) in development.

Perhaps give EasyTime a try? Reach out to our 24x7 support if you have questions.
