Teams - Send Direct Message instead of Channel Message

Hello!
Has anyone figured out how to send a DM to someone on Microsoft Teams when a ticket is created (or any other various status change)?  Sending to a Channel is useful, but I'd love to be able to send notifications using automation to the reporter or even assignee.  The only way I can see to directly send to a single user is by email....but those get ignored/filtered. Teams is where everyone is living.  I see that the Slack automation allows this, but we just moved to Teams last month, go figure, haha.
