Hello! I have a project that contains upstream tickets that get linked to downstream tickets in other projects. I want to build an automation where resolving a ticket in a downstream project changes the status of the upstream ticket that it is blocking.
Here are examples of my tickets:
I was trying to nest For loops, but Jira won't let me. Is there a way to do what I want to do? Thank you for your help!
Hello @Kali Olsen
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
I answered a similar question just a couple of days ago. Take a look at the answer I posted here.
https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/Rule-triggered-by-another-rule/qaq-p/2757596
In that case the rule is being triggered by the blocking issue's status change. A few changes to the rule would be needed because your issues are in different projects.
Additionally the rule I provided there doesn't take into consideration the the points raised by @Bill Sheboy to consider what you want done if an issue is blocked by multiple other issues.
Thank you Trudy! It sounds like out the Atlassian Community search would have found the solutions. I was using the google search which didn't recommend these solutions. I'll keep that in mind for next time!
