Hi All

We have been running JIRA 5.2.9 for past two years and have recently renewed our maintenance. Now is it possible if we can upgrade JIRA to 7.8?

Will we be loosing any data?

Hey Legisym,

First of all, yes you can upgrade to the latest version. The only concern I would have with data is if you are using plugins that will no longer be supported in the latest version. Other than that, everything should be fine for an upgrade.

It is important to note that moving from JIRA 5.2.9 to the latest is not a trivial task. According to the Atlassian Documentation, you need to upgrade first to JIRA 7. https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirasoftware/jira-software-7-8-x-upgrade-notes-945521255.html

This is not really an easy task. I would also encourage you to check out all the upgrade guides, supported platforms, release notes, ect.

I'd strongly recommend 5.2 -> 6.4 -> 7.0 -> 7.8or9
