Using Automation for Jira to create issues when an Epic is created?

We have a need to create user stories on Epic creation.

I'm using the add-on Automation for Jira and was able to create some Stories. However, if we want any required fields it wouldn't be able to create those issues (I tried but had to turn off required fields.)

So, I have three questions:

1) Why aren't my Stories or issues created linked to my Epic, and how can I do that?

2) What is suggested for required fields if that is going to stop issues from being created? Will I just need different Issue Type Screen Schemes and Screen Schemes to have different fields/have required fields? Or field configurations?
