Viewing custom fields in issue view

Jonathan Pierson February 27, 2019

I am trying to create a request form for hardware/software requests. To do this, I have created several custom fields on our request form. However, I cannot see these custom fields by default for this issue type on the viewer once a user has submitted an issue.

One obstacle is that I am not sure if this viewer has a name, so I can look up how to edit it.

Is there a way to modify the issue viewer for certain types of issues to display my custom fields?

Hi Jonathan,

The issue could be due to the reason that the user did not fill the custom field value when submitting the request.

Jira only displays those fields on the View screen which has some value associated to it. The fields without any value are not visible on the screen.

As a workaround, you could set those fields as mandatory, or maybe add a default value to the field.

I hope this helps. Please do let me know if you have further queries on the same.

Best regards,

Shwetha
