If a user logs a 'ticket' in Jira Service, how can it automatically be added to the backlog in Jira Service? Is this even possible? Would we require any plug ins? I have come across the following link https://confluence.atlassian.com/servicedeskcloud/blog/2017/12/automatically-create-linked-issues-from-new-requests
but this doesn't work for what we need.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

can you give a bit more details on what is your use case and why the solution you found doesn't work for you needs?
What you can configure with the automation rule is - when request will be created in Jira Service Desk, the copy of the ticket will be created in the Jira Software project.
