automatically set custom field based on parent

I really need to synchronise a custom field pased on the parent. Is there a way to do that without add-on?

Per your tags, I see you are using the Jira Server application, not Cloud. Is that correct?

If you are using Jira Server, I'm afraid there is no functionality that you can use to copy values from a parent issue to a sub-task. We have the following feature request to implement this feature:

Post function to copy the value of a field to another 

Feel free to vote and watch the suggestion to increase its priority and also receive notifications about any updates.

If you are using Jira Cloud, you can use the built-in workflow post function called "Copy value from another field" or the own Project automation under project settings to automatically copy values from parent issues. Additionally, these features can be added to Jira Server using one of the add-ons below:

I saw that you have automation that can do it. It's very cheap add-on and 100% Atlassian. I'll buy that add-on. :)
