how to configure a external user to comment on issues

Clinton Smorenburg October 22, 2017

We use a third party application to deliver online forms - the send from email address is always the same - we would like a copy of the online form to be automatically loaded onto the jira issue. We are currently using the JEMH Cloud email handler. Attachment is a pdf.

currently rejecting as email address is recognised as a non jira user.

Hi Clinton,

From your description I believe you are sending an email to your JEMHC inbound address from a non-jira address to comment on an existing issue. For the non-jira user to be able to comment on an issue, they must already be involved with the issue (included in the non-JIRA address custom fields on the issue).

By default if a non-JIRA user attempts to comment on an issue they are not already involved in, JEMHC will reject the email, this is a security feature.

If you would like the non-JIRA user to be able to comment on the issue, they will either need to be present in the non-JIRA address custom fields, or you will need to reduce the security settings in JEMHC to allow the non-JIRA user to comment despite not being associated with the issue. (This allows all email addresses to comment on any issue, not usually desired behaviour). The security setting Project Mapping -> Email Only Users -> Non-JIRA security can be used to enable the non-JIRA users to comment on issues they are not associated with.

For further assistance please reach out to us directly via our JIRA: The Plugin People - JIRA

Kind Regards,

Reece
