The new Service Account feature doesn't allow you to use an email address, but it creates a specific one. Is it possible to open a ticket with Atlassian to suggest it? Does it still consume licenses?

Depending on your needs, the new Service Accounts might be a viable option. They are intended to be used for accessing the REST APIs from Automation, but can be used for 3rd party access via the APIs too (I believe).
