Adding Link with Icon to Project Side Panel Using ScriptRunner

I'm trying to add a link to the Project side panel using Script Runner in Jira Core. More specifically, I'm replacing the Reports link. I've managed to hide the system Reports link and add a new link that opens a menu to select from some custom reports. 

I'd like to have this link either use the default Reports icon or use a path to any other icon on the app server. 

It seems that for "Custom web item" Script Fragments, whatever is entered in "Menu text" is rendered as plain old text-- which is for the best I suppose, but now I'm left scratching my head about other things to try... 

Is there any way to add icons to Custom web items using ScriptRunner?
