Auto Complete on Multi-Select Fields Customisation: Allow input of comma-separated values

Hi all,

I'm experimenting with the customisation of multi-select fields to use the auto-complete renderer, as described here. It all works beautifully and as expected, but there's something I'd ideally like to do with it.

This works much better than the default renderer if a user needs to select a few options from a long list. But we have a scenario where a user needs to enter a lot of options from a huge list.

For these cases, the user would generally find it easier to submit a comma-separated list of values to the form instead of having to search and add each one. 

Is anyone aware of anything I could add to the Javascript that might allow this? Or failing that, are there any add-ons out there that might assist?
