Can I pull in a custom field from parent issue in JETI template?

I need to display a custom field from the parent of the issue that is sending the email. Can this be done and if so what is the format to pull in the parent data? I have pulled in the parent issue key but I am not having any luck trying to duplicate with a custom field.
