Connect PocketQuery to Oracle Database

Hi

I've installed the PocketQuery Confluence add on and now want to configure it to point at an 11.2.0.1 Oracle database.

Within the PocketQuery Admin area I've defined a connection - but the connection fails when tested...

Cannot connect to this database. Error message was:
[JDBC driver class not found: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver]

Is there some further configuration required in Confluence in order for this all to work, if so what?

Thank you for using PocketQuery!

Yes, there is some further configuration needed. In order to connect to an Oracle database, you need to provide Confluence with the proper JDBC driver jar. Download it (e.g. from here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/features/jdbc/index-091264.html) and add it to the folder WEB-INF/lib within your Confluence installation directory. After that restart Confluence. Then your connection should work fine.

Hi Graeme,

Confluence comes bundled with the JDBC driver for PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server, but unfortunately not with the Oracle driver due to licensing constraints as it says on https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/database-jdbc-drivers-171742.html.

So you need to manually download the driver as it is linked in the table in the link above and put the jar file into the WEB-INF/lib of your Confluence installation directory, i.e. /opt/atlassian-confluence-6.0.1/confluence/WEB-INF/lib and restart the server for the classloader to pick it up.

After that the JDBC driver should be available. Hope that helps!
