Hello,
I have a use case where I need to use smart values to copy one field value (single select) to another field (multi select). Both are user picker fields but one is single select and one is multi. I need to do this without overwriting the values that already exist in the multi-select field.
Any help is much appreciated!
Hi Adrienne,
Create your rule based on the desired trigger.
Then add a new Action for Edit Issue.
Select the multi-select field.
Then click the Copy from option from the 3 dots menu to the right of the field.
Select the single select field from the Field to copy value from
And then click the box for Add to existing values
Hi John,
Thank you for the feedback! Works very well!!
I was able to set up my rules as you've described. My use case also involves the use of 5 single-select fields copying to one multi-select field.
My automations work well when I only update one of the single-select fields in a single edit.
Unfortunately, when I update multiple single-select fields in the same Edit, when carrying over to the multi-select field, it overwrites the values. I am guessing because it is all triggering at once. Thus, I end up with only one field's values in my multi-select field.

Yes, I think you will have to do 5 separate updates. And I would put a Re-fetch issue between each to be sure. That will slow your rule down somewhat, but it should work. Otherwise it will get overwritten as you have discovered.

Thank you so much! Re-fetching issue between worked like a charm :-)
