'QA' group for the user is not getting added, its giving error "The user's directory is read only"

We have 2 different directories here from which the user profile is extracted say 'x' and 'y'

As JIRA admin, when I try to add some user in 'QA' group, then I'm getting this error and hence the user is not added in the group (this is the issue with users who are listed in directory 'x')

"You cannot add user '67629' to group 'QA'. The user's directory is read only."

But, when I add the user listed in directory 'y', in 'QA' group then able to add successfully.

Both the directories have the same properties, not understanding why I'm getting this error.

Can anyone help? Thanks.

You might see the same properties for directories in Jira and Confluence, but on the directory side, the user account that is connecting to the directories has read/write in Y but read only in X.

You need to change directory X so that it allows write by the jira/confluence user.

Thanks Nic for your response.

But, I'm able to add all other groups in 'X' directory, its only 'QA' group which is not getting added.
