Alok Agnihotri April 3, 2014

Hi,

Please suggest that is there any plugin availaible for jira 6.1.6 to Hide UI element(in a way as InProduct Translation plugin does to rename fields.)

We just want to hide some fields from screens.

Thanks!

The best way to hide fields on screens is to, well, remove them from the screens - have a look at the project's "screen scheme"

If you do need something more than that, then try the "behaviours" plugin.

Hi Nic,

Thank you for the response!

Jira system and custom fields can be removed from screens via schemes.

Here I want to ask if we can hide some of the UI components(Not only fields).

For eg. Some of the tabs in the Activity Tab(All,Comment,Worklog,History....etc) in "view issue screen".

One way to acheive this is editing view-issue-plugins or velocity templates editing.

But I just want to know if any plugin can be used to achieve this?

Please suggest.

No, I don't think you can perform surgery that extensive without changing the core code.

My instincts are to question what you are doing though.

There's a good reason it's all tabbed up like that and the data it's showing can be relevant. I'd turn off the stuff you don't want instead of wasting time making hard-to-maintain code that might hide things you actually need. If you don't want the worklogs for example, turn time tracking off.

But what is the actual reason for doing this?

Actually we got this in the requirement sheet.(Perhabs they thought it would simplify the activity tab viewing).
