Can we use Groups to limit the list of possible Assignees?

When creating an issue, we want the reporter to select an appropriate group.

Based on the group selected, we then want the reporter to only be able to select an assignee within that group.

Is there a way to achieve this?

Hi,

We ended up using the Insight plugin for this.

In Insight we created groups with related users, and then in Jira we created custom fields of type Insight Referenced Object (single), restricting the list of possible assignees.

The lack of this functionality in JSD is a major weakness for organizations having a singel or few first line support who then dispatch issues further backline.

Hi Johannes,

The only way I've seen to populate another custom field based on the selection of one custom field is with an add-on or Javascript.

In the User picker itself you'd want to limit at least the first option to group(s).

Hopefully that helps.

Cheers,

Thanks for your reply,  Branden!

Maybe a was unclear; I want to limit the user picker list in the default Assignee field, not a custom field.

Regards

Johannes
