Did you mean:

Create linked issue in project B for each issue in Project A

Mario Puco February 24, 2021

Hello people,

I would need help or any guidence on how-to setup "Automation for Jira" rule that would do the following:

- When issue is created in project A , For every issue in project A that exists I need to create a issue in Project B
- This would mean If Project A has 3 issues in it when I create new issue in Project A, it should also create (3+1) issues in Project B.

Any tips/pointers are much appreciated :)

Regards,
Mario

Hi John,

First of all thank you for your attention.

Yes, you are correct, this is the Automation that I would like to achieve.
Project B would act as a storage/warehouse project where we want to keep relations with cards from Project A.
I'm aware that it will be a looooong list of cards in Project B, but again this would be used as relation storage.

Any tips for me on how to get started with this? :)

Regards,
Mario

Hi Mario,

This is extremely unusual, and I can see where it could get in a loop of sorts in that it will create multiple cards for every issue in project A every a new card gets created.

For example based on your example: a new card is created in project A. There are 3 existing cards in project A so 4 new cards would get created in project B.

But then later another card is created in project A, the would create 5 new cards in project B, including for the same 4 cards that have already been created in project B - so there would be duplicates of all 4 of those. And then triple the same cards on the next project A card.

Is that really what you want?
