Under Xray, Updated Test Cases does not get updated within Test Executions

Hi, I have around 40 Test Sets, each Test Set contains around 10-20 regression Test Cases.

We update Test cases frequently and add few test steps.

Question 1: I usually create Test Plan and add test execution for the following month few weeks in advance.  Each Test Execution contains several Test Sets which contain several test cases (typically regression test cases that are executed month after month)

If my tester update a test case from current month and add few more steps to the test case, I noticed the changes do not get updated on test execution of future month.  For example if my test execution for next month contain test set with test case that has 10 steps.  And if my tester open up the test case update with 5 additional steps.  Now test case has 15 steps.  The new 5 steps do not get updated for the future month test execution.  To remedy, I have to delete the test set from future month Test Execution and re-add it.  How can I make the update to test cases update future test executions?

Question 2: All my test cases and Test Sets are currently assigned to a tester.  When I create test Execution, and include Test Sets, the assignee field becomes unassigned.  Is there a way to retain the assignee field and keep it unchanged when we create Test Execution?

Hi Seantab, 

Question 1: You can define a Test Set as Static or Dynamic. When creating a Test Set you can choose whatever the Test set contains a static bundle of Tests or if contains a bundle of Tests defined by a JQL query (can include saved filters). In the case of Tests being chosen by JQL query, then if the query results change, the Tests bundle of Test Set will also change.

Question 2: When creating the test execution, you can select there the user that is going to be assignee:

Thank you Jose, I accepted your answer even though it does not help me with the way my test sets are currently setup up, because JQL wouldn't give me the type sort order I need to get the executions in chronological order, but to remedy, I will apply naming conventions or labels so I could use JQL to give me correct sort order.

@SeaCreature Were you able to find a way to fix this? I'm using Jira & Xray API to automate the Test Plan & Test Execution attached to it, but the Test Plan always keeps adding the total of tests to the overall status & I just trying to showcase the latest Test Execution instead.
