Trying to write groovy script to automatic page refresh in jira, any suggestions

groovy script execution in script runner while user assigned any people on Assignee, automatically the status should go to InProgress

Do you mean, if an issue is created with an assignee, skip "Open" and jump straight to "In Progress"?

That can be done by editing the 'Create' workflow transition, adding a "Fast track transition an issue" post-function as the last post-function, with action 'In Progress' and a condition "issue.assignee != null".
