Is there a way to have a custom field available on all boards?
If not, could you please suggest a way to synchronize custom fields across different boards?
A bit of context.
At our web agency we have a board for each department: dev, graphics, content and so on.
Each board has a dropdown custom field with our clients names.
Each time a new client arrives or a client leaves, we have to update the custom field on all boards, which is an error-prone process.
It would be preferable to have the custom field available on all boards.

If you are working on a web agency, I think you could find somebody to develop a little web app to interact with your boards using the Trello API. The API offer several ressources to read and write Custom Fields.

I will use the API, as it seems there is no way to synch custom fields in the web interface.
I will report back to this thread if I am successful.

Have you tried using the custom fields power up? One option is to create a template with the custom field and when you create a new card use it. Another option is to use the Butler power up and create a trigger/rule.

AFAIK the power up is board-specific, therefore I would have to maintain the custom fields identical across all boards. Alas, this is far from ideal when the custom field is a dropdown with 40 options which change relatively often :-(

Check out this Card Sync power up. It states "Create groups of 2 or more cards that will have their name, due dates, comments, descriptions, attachments and checklists synced between them in real time. Syncs may happen between boards and the card groups can be modified at any time right from the card backs."
I was unable to find information on the Afaik powerup to further troubleshoot.
