How to mark every card on board incomplete by automation?

Using the board as a task tracker, I created a list called "done", now automation would copy the tasks(cards) to done, once they are marked as completed.
The problem is the tasks are repeatable, can I mark all cards on board as incomplete (except for the ones in the list "done") every midnight, by using butler automation?

So I can check them again next day without hassle.

I think this is a pretty basic function, maybe I just don't know how to work it out.

Hi @Esther !

So, it sounds like you're trying to reset your board every day so you can tackle repeatable tasks without having to manually uncheck them. Unfortunately, Trello's automation doesn't have a direct way to reset or wipe the status of all cards at a scheduled time. But, I've got a workaround that might help you out!

You could set up two automations to kind of mimic what you're after, but it might end up being a bit convoluted. Here's the idea:

  1. Move Cards to a Temporary List: Set up an automation that, at midnight, moves all cards (except those in the "done" list) to a temporary list, like "Reset List."

  2. Mark Cards as Incomplete: Then, create another rule that marks all cards entering this "Reset List" as incomplete.

But, here's a thought that might simplify things: If these tasks are repeatable, maybe consider creating a new card for each iteration of the task instead of resetting them. For example, you could have an automation that, every Monday, creates a new card named "Organize Calendar for this week." You work on that card, move it to "done" when it's completed, and then a fresh card pops up the next week. This way, you’re not undoing any work, and you keep a nice history of completed tasks.

Automation is super versatile, but sometimes it’s easy to overcomplicate things. Let me know if this helps or if there’s anything else I can do to make things easier for you!
