Search and Replace in Automation?

I've worked out how to use {cardname} variable to add a prefix to a Card name. Very useful. But the card names end up getting longer and longer.

Is there a way to search and replace text?

Example:  I can use a trigger to add prefix "Started: " to Cardname. But when the job is complete, I'd like to use another trigger to REMOVE "Started: " and replace with "Complete: "

If I had a variable or field I could store the initial cardname in, I could probably do it. Maybe I could somehow use another card just to store the cardname?

thank you, I'll have a look at that. Meanwhile I think I have worked out a way to do what i want to do with labels. I didn't realise you could also display text on the labels.
