Smarter Jira Email Notifications — Now With Data Residency: Notification Assistant for Jira - Email

Glowing Envelope and Global Connections.png

How do you customize your Jira notifications?

Did you know you can?

This isn't a trick question — I’m genuinely asking. Leave an answer in the comments!

Modus Create’s Product Studio team builds Atlassian Marketplace apps that help teams work better inside the Atlassian ecosystem.
One of those apps is Notification Assistant for Jira - Email, which helps you take full control over your Jira Cloud email notifications — and now, we’re excited to announce an important update: Notification Assistant now supports Data Residency.

If you've ever had to explain where your data is stored — and realized that "somewhere in the cloud" wasn’t exactly the answer your security team wanted — you're not alone.

That’s exactly why we made this update — to give Jira Cloud teams even more control, flexibility, and peace of mind.

What Is Notification Assistant for Jira – Email?

Notification Assistant helps Jira Cloud users:

  • Send customized email notifications based on specific issue events and fields
  • Tailor messages for different teams, groups, or customers without flooding inboxes
  • Create clear, actionable notifications that help work move forward faster
  • Cut down notification noise while making sure critical updates get seen

No scripts, no complex automations — and we don’t count against your Jira automation limits.
Just smarter notifications that fit how your team actually works.

What's New: Data Residency Support

Today’s teams face growing security and compliance expectations.
Being able to control where your app's operational data is stored is no longer optional — it’s essential.

Notification Assistant for Jira - Email now supports Data Residency, allowing you to:

  • Pin operational data (notification rules, templates, metadata) to your chosen region
  • Support GDPR, CCPA, and regional compliance needs more easily
  • Strengthen customer and internal trust around data handling

Important: Your Jira issues and project data remain hosted by Atlassian Cloud.
Data Residency applies to Notification Assistant’s operational data only.

What Notification Assistant's Data Residency Covers

With this update, you can now pin:

  • Notification rules and configuration settings
  • Templates you create for customized Jira emails
  • Metadata related to email processing and tracking

All of this can now live in the US, and Germany.

✅ No change to your Jira site or Jira issues.
✅ Full control over Notification Assistant’s operational footprint.

Why This Update Matters

Adding a new app to your Jira Cloud environment often means navigating internal security reviews, compliance questionnaires, or stakeholder approvals.

With Data Residency, you can:

✅ Get through internal security reviews faster by hosting operational data where your policies require it

✅ Meet privacy regulations like GDPR and CCPA without extra configuration or risk

✅ Earn trust more easily from your compliance, legal, and IT teams — and from your customers

✅ Avoid delays that come from uncertainty around data storage and governance

This means fewer blockers, smoother rollouts, and more confidence in how Notification Assistant fits your existing processes — especially in regulated or high-trust environments.
