Let’s be honest, juggling passwords across tools is outdated. It frustrates users, burdens IT, and invites security risks.

That’s where SAML Single Sign-On (SSO) comes in. With SAML SSO, users log in once via their Identity Provider (IdP) and get instant, secure access to Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and beyond - no repeated logins, no password headaches.

And it’s more than just convenient - compliance frameworks like DORA, HIPAA, NIS2 and more emphasize centralized identity and access control. SAML SSO helps you meet those requirements with ease.

🛠️ Why It Matters for Atlassian Users

Millions of enterprises use Atlassian tools to manage projects, teams, and operations. These platforms house critical data, making them a top priority for secure access.

That’s why miniOrange SAML SSO + User & Group Sync (SCIM) for Atlassian Data Center exists - to simplify login, strengthen control, and help your organization stay compliant and secure.

💡 Works with Any SAML 2.0 Identity Provider

Easily connects to Okta, Azure AD, Google Workspace, Ping Identity, OneLogin, Keycloak, AWS, ADFS, or any custom SAML IdP.

🚀 Packed With Powerful Features

  • 🔁 Multi-IdP Support - Handle multiple identity providers without disrupting the login flow

  • ⚙️ Just-in-Time Provisioning - Automatically create user accounts the very first time they log in via SSO. Each login also updates profiles and access levels

  • 👥 User & Group Mapping - Bring in core attributes (username, email, display name) and map users/groups from your IdP to Atlassian groups ensuring correct permissions and access levels every time

  • 🔒 Signed & Encrypted SAML Support - Ensure data integrity and confidentiality during authentication

  • 🔄 Certificate Rotation - Simplify certificate renewal and prevent SAML disruptions

  • 🚪 Single Logout (SLO) - One-click logout from Jira and all connected apps

  • 🚨 Emergency Login Options - Regain access even if the IdP is down (without compromising security)

  • 👥 Flexible Login Flows - Customize login for users, admins, and ServiceDesk agents, with domain rules, redirections, or forced SSO

  • 🧠 Advanced Attribute Mapping - Sync additional or custom attributes like department, phone number, or location from your IdP into Atlassian for richer user profiles and finer access control

  • 🎨 Custom Login, Logout, & Error Pages - Brand the full login experience end-to-end

  • 📦 Backup & Restore Configurations - Export and restore plugin settings for easier migration or recovery
  • 🔗 SCIM Support (User & Group Sync) - Go beyond JIT: continuously sync users and groups between your IdP and Atlassian without waiting for the user to log in. Users are created, updated (name, email, department, groups), and deactivated automatically as changes happen in your IdP, keeping profiles and access levels perfectly in sync

  • 📑 Header-Based Authentication - Allow login via trusted reverse proxies or load balancers by passing user identity in headers

  • 📊 Audit Logs - Track login activity, debug errors, and gain visibility across users

📘 Up Next…

This article is just the beginning. In upcoming posts, I’ll break down the various features mentioned above in detail.

Because the easier it is to log in, the safer your systems stay.

💡 And if you want to take security even further, you can add an extra layer of protection with our Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) alongside SSO.

Stay tuned. Stay in control. 🔐
