Hi everyone,
Here's my current scenario:
I'm using Original Estimate on Backlog View as shown below. This helps during sprint planning.
Added Original Estimate on Backlog view: 24hrs
Added Sub-task 1 with Original Estimate: 12hrs
Added Sub-task 2 with Original Estimate: 12hrs
Total hours on Parent ticket: 48hrs
By default, Jira sums the Original Estimate on the parent and on the sub-tasks. Unchecking the "Include sub-tasks" shows only the parent Original Estimate and not the logged hours on sub-tasks.
If I add sub-tasks with Original Estimates, It doesn't sum up on the backlog view. In my example above, having 24hrs on 2 sub-tasks will just show 0hrs on the backlog view.
What can I do to not double the estimates? Not specify the Original Estimates on sub-task level and just use it to log work hours? Is there a way to configure this (I am not Jira Admin in our company)?
I'd appreciate all answers. Thank you!
I am actually having the same issue but mine is a little different. Ours has an automation that rolls up to the parent estimate, summing up all of the subtasks' estimates under it.
Newly created sprints doesn't duplicate the hours in the sum but the older ones (when we applied the automation) includes the parent's estimates. I'm not sure what's going on :/
